Write for Us

Contribute to Knotted Post — a platform for bold voices on northern Nigeria.

Knotted Post welcomes pitches and submissions from writers, journalists, activists, and commentators who have something to say about the Arewa region and beyond. We publish in English and Hausa across news, gossip, culture, gender activism, and entertainment.

What We're Looking For

We are interested in original reporting, sharp commentary, cultural criticism, and personal essays that engage with northern Nigerian life. Our sections span politics, the Kannywood film industry, Arewa social-media culture, religion and philosophy, human rights, and gender justice — including the #ArewaMeToo conversation.

We value pieces that are provocative, well-sourced, and grounded in the realities of the region. Bilingual submissions (English–Hausa) are especially welcome.

How to Pitch

Before you write

Send a short pitch outlining your idea, angle, and why it matters now. Include links to previous work if you have them. We prefer concise pitches — a paragraph or two is enough.

We aim to respond within two weeks. If you don't hear back, feel free to follow up.

Submission guidelines

  • Articles should be between 800 and 2,000 words unless otherwise agreed.
  • Include sources and references where applicable.
  • We accept drafts in English, Hausa, or a mix of both.
  • Original, unpublished work is strongly preferred.
